Customer Order Process

  • All custom projects will begin with a brief email explaining what you are looking for. 

    Important things to include in your email are:

    -What is your preferred material ( is it silver, copper, resin etc )

    - What scale is the piece? ( can be in inches or millimeters, or also a relative comparison to an object, ie the size of a dime etc )

    -What type of jewelry is this?( is this a ring, pendant, cuff, bracelet, pair of earrings etc )

    - Do you have a budget for your project?

    - Is this for a special occasion? Do you have a proposed deadline for your piece?

    -Will this piece include any stones? If yes, which stones?

    - Any sketches or reference images of the intended custom piece. 

    Once we receive your email with all relevant information, we will respond letting you know if Soot n Spirit will be moving forward with your request. If your project is accepted we will then schedule a phone or video consultation at a mutually convenient time.

  • Consult

    During our consult we will flesh out the details of your project proposal, go over anticipated costs and timeline of your custom piece and determine if we want to go forward with your project. If the answer is yes, we will create an initial estimate for you and send it via email. If everything seems good to you, we will send you a link to pay the sculpting and design fee of $150. This fee is not refundable and will be deducted from the total cost of the piece once the design is approved. 

  • Designing

    Once the sculpting and design fee is paid, we will begin designing your project. Once initial designs are created, we will forward you either a detailed drawing of your piece or a first draft of a sculpt, depending on the fabrication process best suited to your custom project. This is the stage of the project where client and feedback and input is most integral. By gaining feedback, we are able to edit or shift the direction of the design to a place where you are 100% happy. Please note that while we take client approval seriously, the $150 deposit only covers 1-3 small revisions. If the client is still not 100% satisfied with our design after 3 revisions, it is usually a sign that Soot & Spirit is not a good fit for the client and we will not go forward with the custom project. Once any design revisions have been completed and the project is approved, you will be asked to pay for 50% of the remaining balance. Once we receive your payment, we will begin full production of your custom project. 

  • Production

    This is where the fun really starts! After your production payment is received we will get into gear and begin production on your custom project. We may reach out periodically if we want your feedback or opinions, but most likely you won’t hear from us until your piece is nearly complete. There isn’t much for you to do now besides sit back, be patient, and start getting excited for your custom piece. 

  • The wait is finally over! At this phase in the customs process, we will reach out to you and share images of your nearly completed piece. We hope that you will be thrilled at seeing your idea nearly brought to life, and will be anxiously awaiting the completion of your piece! All that is left are the finishing touches and for you to pay your final balance. Once the balance is received we will ship your finished custom to its forever home. Needless to say, this is everyone’s favorite part.
